1. Just Like Space

John, he lived in Fairfield with
his wife and son on the way
Til one night he up and left,
his note said he’d be back one day

There he thumbed down 81,
desperate to find
A getaway in some southern town
where he could have some piece of mind

Just then, three men pulled up
slowly from his left side
Saying ‘Son you must be lost,
come and take a ride’

When he was young, John was warned
bout southern highway men
Who’d kill for kicks, any driftin man,
if only he thought of this then

He kicked and he screamed
but his fight was to no avail
Cause in the south, just like space,
no one hears you yell
