2. Away From Nebraska

Cedar tree rests on me,
maybe it’s the other way around
I clear the fields with a trough,
and when I’m done I clear the house

Our farm is called the Blessed Hog,
it’s the best damn farm in the state
And even though our town is small,
we push on and we still stand tall

Still stand tall, still stand tall

Wind blasts, days of overcast,
are quite common when
you live on a farm
In the Midwest your whole world consists
of a town that’s five by five miles long

My sister she, she ain’t like me,
she yearns to see the city lights
My daddy he puts up a plea, says
‘This is all we’ve ever known’

Ever known, ever known

She decided to leave,
barely said goodbye, and
she went running for the county bus
And looking back she then proclaimed,
‘Doesn’t anybody wanna know what’s going on?’

Outside the Blessed Hog?
Away from Nebraska?

Wind blasts, days of overcast,
are quite common when
you live on a farm
In the Midwest your whole world consists
of a town that’s five by five miles long
